We want to express our thanks to several local schools who have held Harvest Food Collections on behalf of Middleton Central Foodbank, and between them have donated to us nearly 1200 meals worth of food.
We all know that 2020 has been a different kind of year, where many of the usual things that form our regular routine have been changed or have not been possible at all. So, we are extremely grateful where groups and organisations have still been willing and able to stand with us and offer their support.
It is a great encouragement when we receive the donations that are made to us, because without these our work and achievements wouldn’t be possible.
We have the privilege of being the face that people see when we are supporting them, but we are your hands and feet, and it is by working together that we are able to make such a difference to the families and individuals in our community that are struggling. Together, we are making a difference!
In a recent review of our achievements between July 2019-June 2020 we have provided food for 4626 meals for adults and children from over 575 different families. We received donations of 45.5 tonnes of food (22.3 tonnes of which came in during lockdown), and we gave away 36.3 tonnes in support of people in food poverty, or crisis. This reflects a 32% increase on the same period the year before.
Sadly, food poverty and family crisis is not going away, but with your help, we are playing our part in helping people to keep going until they find their feet, or their circumstances improve.
Thank you; your support is both humbling and encouraging.
